The Reality We Can't Ignore...

The 5 Layers of Protection — Your Family’s Shield Against Drowning

Drowning is fast, silent, and often preventable when multiple safety measures work together. Experts recommend five layers of protection to keep children safe in and around water: barriers and alarms to block unsupervised access, constant adult supervision with a designated “water watcher,” water competency through swim lessons and practice, properly fitted life jackets for boating and open water, and emergency preparation including CPR training and a plan to respond quickly. Each layer adds another safeguard—because when it comes to protecting a life, one layer is never enough.
